Auction Regulations

1 All lots are sold as genuine unless stated otherwise but the Auctioneer and the Civil Censorship Study Group take no responsibility for the descriptions supplied by the vendors. Any items incorrectly described may be returned within seven days provided they are in the same condition as when despatched.

2. The figure shown to the right of the lot descriptions is the reserve price and bids of lower amounts will be ignored.

3. The Auctioneer will not be responsible for errors and omissions in executing bidders’ instructions.

4. Bidders should indicate any posting instructions at the time of making their bids otherwise the Auctioneer will use his discretion. All postage and packing costs will be charged to bidders and goods will be at the bidder’s risk from the time of posting.

5. All sales are final, however, fair play and common sense will prevail and the Auctioneer will use his discretion over matters of dispute.

6. Bids should be mailed to the Auctioneer at the address shown as soon as possible but in any event to arrive no later than the stated closing date.

7. The auctions will be conducted in US Dollars and all bids, reserves and payments will be in US Dollars unless the Auctioneer allows otherwise.
Bids will only be accepted from paid up members of the Civil Censorship Study Group.

8. In the event of equal bids being received the first to be received by the Auctioneer will prevail.

9. All unpaid invoices must be paid within seven days of receipt.

10. Bids must be made in whole US Dollars only at the following intervals. Bids not conforming to these levels will be reduced to the next lower level.

    • Up under $20 at intervals of $1
bids between $20 to $50 at intervals of $2
bids exceeding $50 at intervals of $5.

11. Commission is charged to vendors at 15% of amounts realised. There is no buyer’s premium and any lots subject to value added tax or other sales taxation will be clearly marked to that effect.

Vendors within the European Community should send the lots to the auctioneer with a description and the reserve expressed in US $.

Intending vendors from outside the European Community should initially supply the Auctioneer with a list of the items offered and reserves in US $. If they are acceptable to him the vendor will be advised and the Auctioneer will allocate lot numbers to the vendor’s list. The vendor should them retain the lots until after the sale when sold lots should be sent to either the US or European Secretary for distribution depending on the location of the successful purchasers. This procedure is necessary to avoid the payment of customs duties both on sending the items to the auctioneer and on the return of unsold lots.

12. The placing of bids will be interpreted as full agreement to the above conditions.

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING C.C.S.G. AUCTIONS

AUCTION PAYMENTS

To eliminate currency exchange charges we are adopting the following procedures:-

All payments to Vendors will be made by the respective Treasurer in whose area they reside, i.e., American Vendors will be paid by the American Treasurer, European/Rest of World Vendors will be paid by the European Treasurer.

All payments by successful bidders will be made as follows:-

American Bidders will pay the American Treasurer in U.S. dollars.
European/Rest of World Bidders may pay their account to either the European Treasurer or the Auction Manager whichever is the more convenient. Payments to the European Treasurer must be in pounds sterling, (Cheques must be drawn against a British Bank) Payments to the Auction Manager must be in German Deutschmarks. The Auction Manager will arrange to credit/debit the European Treasurer with the payments made to him.

This will minimise currency exchange charges and hope the new measures will encourage more members to put forward quality material and a wider response from bidders.

Auction commission will be credited to the area of the successful Bidders as the most arbitrary way of offsetting any costs involved.

The Auction Manager will inform all concerned of the amounts to be paid/collected. The respective Treasurers will balance the credit/debits between the respective areas at times they consider necessary.
