Civil Censorship Study Group meeting

MIDPEX 2001

30 June 2001

The biannual show at Midpex took place this year on 30 June and the CCSG had its usual stand. Midpex is unusual as it is a show for specialist societies of which 60 were represented. There were also 40 dealers and competition is fierce among them for space.

Our stand had displays by John Little, Graham Mark, Bill Robertson and Chris Miller and was busy throughout the day. On the Friday and Saturday evenings some members met for informal dinners. The Friday evening as usual was followed by dealer member Mike White bringing in some boxes of stock.

The show hotel was a Tudor building in Warwick where we have been before. The similarity with Fawlty Towers this year was apparent and in 2003 we will be looking for a change.

This show attracts many prominent collectors and so is enjoyable for the social contacts made and renewed. The displays are largely of postal history and contain much unique material and those who are considering visiting Britain at the end of June in 2003 should try to include a visit to Midpex.

Thank you as always to those who helped on the day and in particular Michael St J Wright, Graham Mark and John Little.
