Mailed at El Paso, Texas (January 8, 1942) via New York City (January 10, 1942), Miami (January 11, 1942) across the Atlantic and Africa. Censored by British Imperial censorship in India (brown label on right with wax seal). Because it was marked "Service Suspended / Return to Sender" it was returned to sender via San Francisco (July 6, 1942) arriving in El Paso (July 14, 1942).
A rerely seen registered reply paid postal stationary postcard was sent from New York on May 8, 1941 by airmail to German-occupied Poland. Seized by the British (who were already at war with Germany). The card was held until the Prize Court released the card in 1946. The card arrived at its Polish destination on 15 April, 1946 but the addressee was The reality of WWII is brought to the fore with this cover - the message was inquiring if a bundle of clothes and food had been delivered - the addresses had most likely been exterminated by the time the card arrived.
